Sitting atop Castle Rock, Edinburgh Castle is a must-visit, offering jaw-dropping views and rich Scottish history. Inside, you’ll find the Crown Jewels of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, and the famous One O’Clock Gun firing daily.

📍 Tip: Arrive early to beat the crowds, and don’t miss the Great Hall!

2. Dine Like Royalty at The Witchery

For a dining experience straight out of a gothic novel, The Witchery by the Castle is unmissable. With candlelit tables, oak-panelled walls, and a menu featuring indulgent Scottish cuisine, it’s pure magic. We ate in The Secret Garden which felt fairytale-esque.

📍 Must-Try: The 2-course lunch menu, the fish pie was delicious!

3. Step Back in Time in Dean Village

Nestled along the Water of Leith, Dean Village is a tranquil escape from the city’s bustle. Its 19th-century millhouses, stone bridges, and riverside paths make it one of Edinburgh’s most photogenic spots.

📍 Best Photo Spot: The Well Court Building—a dreamy, fairytale-like structure.

4. Take in the Beauty of Ross Fountain

Set in Princes Street Gardens, Ross Fountain is a stunning piece of 19th-century architecture with the castle looming behind. The perfect place for a quiet moment or a dreamy photo.

📍 Best Time to Visit: Sunset, when the golden light hits the castle.

5. Wander Through Stockbridge & Circus Lane

Edinburgh’s Stockbridge is a charming neighbourhood full of boutique shops, quirky cafés, and picturesque streets. Circus Lane, in particular, is a dream for photographers—think cobbled streets, climbing ivy, and pastel-coloured doors.

📍 Don’t Miss: The Stockbridge Sunday Market for artisanal treats!

6. Experience the Colourful Grassmarket & Victoria Street

With its colourful shop fronts and vibrant atmosphere, Victoria Street is said to have inspired Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. The nearby Grassmarket is packed with historic pubs and lively energy.

📍 Must-Try: Their carrot cake is legendary.

10. Visit the Haunting Greyfriars Kirkyard

One of the most haunted graveyards in the world, Greyfriars Kirkyard is filled with eerie tales. It’s also the final resting place of Greyfriars Bobby, the city’s most famous (and loyal) dog. it’s also a must-visit for Harry Potter fans, as several gravestones here, including those of Thomas Riddell, William McGonagall, and Elizabeth Moodie, are said to have inspired J.K. Rowling’s character names.

📍 Ghost Hunter Alert: Take a nighttime tour for the full spooky experience.

Hidden beneath the Royal Mile, this underground labyrinth tells eerie tales of Edinburgh’s past, from the plague to mysterious disappearances.
